National Coffee Day
Did you know that September 29th is National Coffee Day? National Coffee Day hasn't been around too long and I know what some of you must be thinking: "they will make a holiday out of just about anything these days". For those people that think that: Please don't. This is a holiday that deserves our veneration! If you don't believe me, consider dealing with millions of people that suddenly woke up one morning unto a world without coffee! Sacrilege! I have enjoyed coffee since I was a child. That's a lifetime of coffee drinking! Some find it an acquired taste, but once you have acquired the taste, few seldom stop drinking it the rest of their lives. I have tasted many types of coffee. From freeze dried instant, to Ethiopian beans. I have had coffee at Starbucks to Dunkin Donuts. Espressos to cappuccinos! Some of my all time favorites have been breakfast blends and those small, but wonderfully delicious Ethiopian beans.
Coffee does deserve its own holiday, for those that scoff, for those of us that enjoy coffee, we even have our own Santa: in Juan Valdez! No he doesn't drive a sled or have reindeer, but he does have a donkey or mule loaded with the presents us loyal celebrators love most: coffee beans! So, get out the grinder, get out the beans or break out some of that international stuff in a can. Its time to celebrate our holiday!
