How You Can Make A Favicon For Your Google Blog

Favicons are those little tiny pictures that you will sometimes see in your address bar or in your bookmarks. Sometimes they are called a favicon, a page icon, or a favorites icon. Google blogs or blogger has made it possible for you to include, or upload your own favicon for your Google blogs. Normally they have a big orange "B" favicon as your default Google blog favicon. Before now, it was very complicated to have a favicon for your blog because you had to embed a code into the blog's actual coding. You can now create your own favicon and upload it on to your blog, simply and easily. On the edit page (layout) of your Google blog, at the top left of the page elements you will see a Favicon block or square (see example image below). That is where you will edit and upload a favicon file. It will say "Select a favicon file. Please use a square image that's less than 100KB."

To create a flavicon file you will need to have an image that is approximately 100 pixels x 100 pixels. That will be a pretty small image, so you want to keep that in mind when selecting an image. You will want it to be small but detailed in a way that you can still recognize the image. I created a simple black and white design for a Google blog. I resized the image I had created down to 100 pixels by 100 pixels using a photo resizing tool. Then I uploaded the smaller image to a favicon file generator. Then I saved the favicon file to documents and uploaded it on my Google blog favicon page element. The small image should show up then on your Google blog's editing page but don't be alarmed if the favicon doesn't start showing up on your blog, in the address bar, or on your bookmarks right away. It sometimes takes 30 minutes or so for it to start showing up in the address bar or on your bookmarks.
