What is Hulu?
Hulu is a website that is based in Los Angeles, California and is a joint venture between ABC, FOX Entertainment Group and NBC Universal. It offers videos and movies from these networks that you can watch online for free. The website has videos of popular TV show series and movies from many of the partnered networks mentioned.
Not only does Hulu have many popular shows and movies that you can watch online, you can also embed some of the videos on your own websites, profiles or blogs, if you like. They also have widgets for video players, to embed on your own site. The video players can really make a site or profile look great and are fun to use.
Hulu Begins
Hulu started in 2007 and began allowing the general public to view its videos and shows in 2008. Hulu is free to use, but lately has been offering Hulu Plus which is a subscription service for a small monthly fee. With Hulu Plus you can enjoy watching the current episodes of the programs that they offer and I am sure there are many other perks.
What does Hulu mean?
The name Hulu is a Chinese word that means a gourd that is hollowed out, to hold precious or valuable items. It also means interactive recording and the company felt that this name described their company and mission very well.
Talk of Going Public
There is some speculation that in the future Hulu may go public, as a business that is traded in the stock market. There is also some speculation that the company's worth, at that point, could be in the billions of dollars.
Possible Concerts in the Future
There is also some talk about Hulu beginning to have more music related shows and or adding music concert type entertainment to its site. I enjoy music a lot and would really love to see a move like that, on the part of Hulu. I think it would be a wise decision for Hulu. Incorporating the music industry to their site, along with its popular TV shows and movies will make it a multifaceted website, like no other, in my opinion.
I think that Hulu is a great site that has a lot of potential in the future. I plan on watching the site literally and figuratively to see where the site goes. It sounds like it is headed in the right directions as far as online entertainment and I am excited to see how it turns out. I have heard there are also ways to hook it all up to your TV at home, if you have the right equipment. If you ever get a chance to watch Hulu online, I highly recommend it.
