According to various sources across the internet Apple may introduce an Apple iPad HD instead of the iPad 3 as expected. Apple has an event set for March 7th, 2012 at the Yerba Buena Center in San Francisco. This is where previous iPads and other Apple products have been announced in the past. Also, this is about the right time of year for a new Apple product release according to past trends. There has been a lot of discussion going back and forth whether the expected new iPad will be called an iPad 3 or an iPad HD.
All along there has significant speculation on a new iPad with much higher resolution. Currently the iPads have a 1024 x 768 display which is expected to get upgraded to twice that, which would make the iPad HD screen resolution 2048 x 1536 on a new Apple iPad HD, iPad 3 or iPad HD 3, whichever the case may be. It is also expected to come with a new chip to handle the higher resolution. This would certainly be a good reason to call the latest versions of iPads an iPad HD.
Invitations were sent out for the Apple event on March 7th that included a photograph of an iPad and the message: We have something you really have to see? And touch? Sparking even more speculation (as if anymore was needed!) that Apple may in fact announce two new product releases, namely an iPad HD (or iPad 3) and possibly an announcement of the highly anticipated Apple iTV.
